On Monday, August 10th, Iowa was hit with severe weather we never expected or had seen before. While we all have experienced tornado weather, even that could not prepare us for the “inland hurricane” that took down power lines, grain silos, and more. While we were fortunate to go only two days without power, many are still without.
As I know many areas still without power, housing damaged, roads blocked, I will add any and all resources I can find to help those here in Iowa.
Iowa Disaster Assistance
Food Assistance Replacement. For families that receive food stamps/EBT assistance (including those with P-EBT for reduced and free school lunches), items spoiled from power outage and storm damage can be replaced. Households have 10 calendar days from when they discover food loss to complete the application.
Iowa Disaster Assistance Grant Program. IIAGP offers grants to families whose household’s annual income is at 200% or less of the federal poverty level. Each qualifying household MAY receive up to $5,000.00. The grant disaster form can be found at the following link or your community action agency. Disaster Grant Application
