Having fibromyalgia comes with alot more than a diagnosis. There is no cure for this pain syndrome and you will often meet many that don’t understand or the doctors that are less than understanding. It can be beyond frustrating living with fibromyalgia and not having very many that understand.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned in four years, we all need to be our own advocates. If there’s one thing I am learning I need to do, it’s researching my options before heading to the doctor. Luckily, I recently found more information about the Lifescript Fibromyalgia Health Center. Being able to use this as a resource and support is great knowing the information is specifically for those like myself that are living with this syndrome and need medical experts and more that understand the fight of fibromyalgia.
Recently, I’ve been in a fight with my medical providers to find an appropriate treatment for fibromyalgia. Instead of just accepting what is being told to me (which would leave me facing the pain in a grin and bear it matter), I’ve took to the internet to research options that I can take to my doctor and say, “Why can we not try this?”. I think all too often doctors go with the tried and true methods that in such a complex syndrome such as this, they need to be willing to try other avenues. Everyone is different and sometimes, the medical field needs to accept what worked for one might not work for another.
As I’ve explored the Fibromyalgia Health Center, I’ve actually felt support through what I’ve found. It’s not just another website of “Fibromyalgia is a pain syndrome” and that’s it. Patients can find what is right for them and in a way, find some hope that we can find something to help us during this fight.
There’s no reason we should feel alone and now, I don’t have to.
