Sometimes we as Americans take for granted access to some of the most basic products and services we use regularly. It is scary to realize that millions of underprivileged girls worldwide do not have access to sanitary products and protection. Because of the lack of access, these girls miss school and attempt to find dangerous alternatives because these items we find as basic are an item of luxury.
Recognizing this often overlooked crisis, the o.b. Brand has created a Share It Forward Facebook campaign to raise money and awareness for Huru International, a non-profit organization that provides at-risk young girls in developing countries with the resources and knowledge they need to complete their education and safeguard their health. Now through November, the o.b. Brand will donate $1 (up to $25,000) for every person who visits the o.b. Outreach Tab on the mighty. small.™ movement Facebook page and “Shares” a message about Huru International’s mission.
As a mom of two girls, it saddens me that other girls do not have access to such a “simple” item. It only took a matter of minutes to Share it Forward with my Facebook friends. Once I shared, it was just a small part to help support this movement. With the goal of $25,000, the o.b. brand will be able to donate 1,000 Huru Kits to girls in developing countries.
