Disastrous Weather Near and Far

flooding

All week we have had rain and storms. Iowa has flooding in many areas. It’s almost as if every year, we can expect flooding in Iowa. Earlier in the week, we were hit with a large storm, high winds, and were without power for two hours.

As soon as I stopped recording this, a downpour began.

This is a picture my Mom took near Tama, Iowa.

There is more rain in the forecast but I am hoping it will slow down. Many areas have been declared disaster zones.

Iowa is not the only state being hit hard by mother nature. Oklahoma has been hit by tornadoes repeatedly, including today. Tanya of MommyGoggles was in an area directly in the line of a tornado near El Reno, Oklahoma. Luckily, we were able to make a short phone call and we know she is safe but there is lots of damage and it’s unsure when she will be able to make her way home.

I feel fortunate that my family is safe and am sending many healing thoughts and prayers to all impacted by this disastrous weather.

  1. I think this summer is going to be bad when it comes to downpours and tornadoes. I’m suppose to be traveling cross-country with all 5 of my kids in a few weeks and am hoping by that time all this has stopped. I feel bad for all those in flooded areas or those that have been hit by a tornado. Glad you are okay.
