Playtex Diaper Genie II Elite

Playtex Diaper Genie II Elite 1

Playtex Diaper Genie II Elite 2Over the past month, I was given an awesome opportunity to “test drive” two diaper pails and see them for all that they were worth-ability to fight odor, cleanliness, and overall how I liked the both. The first of this was the Playtex Diaper Genie II Elite.

In the past, I had been gifted a Diaper Genie when Aubrey was a little baby. Ultimately, I gave it up. I just didn’t like it. The bags drove me nuts, cleaning was a pain. I finally decided that I would buy a trash can specifically for diapers and just leave it at that.

The Playtex Diaper Genie II Elite System is a step up from the Diaper Genie I first experienced.

Features of the Playtex Diaper Genie II Elite System

  • Double Lock Design seals in odor keeping your baby’s room odor free
  • Five-layer refill with odor-barrier technology
  • Easy Hands-Free. Step on pedal and drop in diaper
  • Antimicrobial inhibits odor-causing bacteria

Set-Up

Set up was essentially easy. A simple snap together and the Genie was put together. The refill liner that holds the actual diapers just required a quick pull out and tie and pushed into the inside of the Genie.

Playtex Diaper Genie II Elite 3The bags are very thick and strong, it would be very hard to rip through.

Usage

With two older girls, diapers can be crazy. Aubrey is still a full-time diaper wearer and Kelsie is a part-time diaper wearer. When it comes to diaper change, we want it done as quick as possible and on with the rest of our day.

The Diaper Genie made it easy to get rid of the diaper in a snap. With the girls diapers being bigger, obviously-it fills faster.  Changing makes it easy by allowing you to open it up, cut the bag, and re-tie.

Overall Thoughts

The Diaper Genie II Elite is a definite improvement from my memories of the first Diaper Genie. Being able to step on the pedal to open the Genie made it much easier than the opening and twisting of before. Overall, odor was taken care of but when the Genie was opened it with yucky diapers inside, odor did seep out. That would be my main complaint. The Diaper Genie II Elite also has much tougher bags, not as easy to rip.

  1. I do have to say that when I had my son, my dad bought me a diaper genie, probably one of the second rounds of the ‘improvements’. I used it a week, if that, and gave it away. I couldn’t even stand it in my house. The stench was unlivable. The refills were pricey as well. Great concept, but it still needs some work. Thanks for the review!
