When it comes to being a Mom of multiples, you really do think about finances but you always want what is best for your baby(ies!). No matter if it is your first baby or seventh baby, you want to make sure baby is getting the best-especially when it comes to nutrition. While I have been trying to breastfeed the boys, I’ve had several setbacks and the boys have needed to supplement with formula. If there’s one thing that is expensive when it comes to having a baby, formula can definitely be one of those.
A recent study* shows that only 30% of moms are willing to buy store brand products for their babies, but did you know that all infant formulas made in the United States must provide complete nutrition for growing babies and meet FDA requirements for safety, nutrition, and quality? In fact, store brand infant formulas are nutritionally equivalent to similar national formula brands such as Enfamil or Similac, but cost half the price, which can save you about $600 a year.
Outlined below are intriguing statistics generated from a recent study* conducted among new moms like yourself:
- Baby-related advertisements strike an emotional chord with moms – nearly one in four feel overwhelmed (23%) and one in five feel anxious (20%) or confused (20%)
- 53% of moms admit thoughts of their baby product budget plague them on a daily basis
- 37% of moms feel guilty if they cannot afford a specific product for their babies
- Moms are willing to purchase store brand over the counter medicine for their baby (42%) and store brand pharmaceuticals (44%), but only 21% of moms are willing to buy store brand infant formula.
Perrigo Nutritionals store brand infant formulas, available at retailers, such as Walmart (Parent’s Choice), Target (Up & Up), Kroger (Comforts) and Sam’s Club (Simply Right), adhere to the highest quality standards, so you can feel confident that you have made a smart choice for your baby and save money for the family. But you don’t have to take our word for it, click to hear about the benefits of store brand formula from one of the country’s leading pediatricians, Dr. Jennifer Trachtenberg.

Right now one way we are saving money is for me to be a stay at home mommy since daycare is so expensive these days. With for kids and gas prices we would be spending about as much as I was making going to work.

I mostly shop at a store called dirt cheap in my area for clothing and only use coupons on other baby supplies. At dirt cheap, I get pairs of socks of 5 cents and onsies for a quarter. These are new items from salvage at stores such as target, kohls, etc and they further mark them down 40-90%
I learned the quality and reputation that the 7 store brand formulas there are.

I’m SUPER bargain savvy! You’d be absolutely amazed at the deals you can find if you just “shop around”. I compare prices in local advertisement and online to make sure I get the most for my money. When you have two children, and are expecting another every extra cent helps!
use coupons
We buy store brands if we don’t have sales/coupons that make national brands cheaper

Our first big money saving idea when preparing for baby #2 was to get Zoey potty trained. We did not want two in diapers.

truthfully we get a lot of secondhand stuff (especially toys) if they are clean looking and then we scrub them… kids outgrow things so quickly so it’s really not worth the huge financial investment.

I learned that the revitalization in the infant formula category was made possible when PBM acquired the state-of-the-art Wyeth Factory in Georgia, Vermont, the only ISO 9001:2000-certified, infant formula-manufacturing facility in the United States.

Simply by realizing not everything has to be name brand, or new for that matter. And sells in the baby section are your friend!! lol
Easy one – I use coupons! And use them when items are on sale. Thanks for the chance.
