Halloween is Coming

pulled out, the sandals away (well, except mine. I wear flip flops with snow on the ground), and of course, those blankets for cuddling are always great.

One of my favorite holidays is Halloween. The chance to dress up has always been a big hit for me (yes, I was a drama geek) and now that I’m a Mom, it’s fun looking for what outfits the girls can dress up as. Kelsie wants Elmo. But then of course, she wants Dora. I thought it would be fun to dress the girls as princesses but I got told that would be too “cliche”. Thanks for ruining my fun.

How do you decide what your children will be for Halloween? Of course, with how our weather is going-we’re going to need long sleeves if we head outdoors. There’s always trick or treating at the mall if it snows. gulp

While we think about it, here are some free Halloween stories for you to share.

  1. Yeah no kidding. That’s one of the staples of growing up in Iowa, trick or treating in snow. 🙂 As for picking your kids’ costumes, I have no suggestions, sorry. I don’t have any kids yet. But let us know what you all end up dressing up as. You’re going to dress up too, right? ~Susan

  2. I let my children choose their costumes, within limits, but the problem is that my son keeps changing his mind! I think he would go with just about anything I encouraged–I guess we’ll have to hit some shopping this weekend and get him locked in. Just hope he doesn’t change his mind after we’ve bought the costume. Hard to make up your mind when you’re 3!

My daughter knows exactly what she wants to me. But the problem is, she wants to be the same thing every year! *sigh*

  3. I remember my mom having to design my halloween costume with my snow suit underneath. Yes. I was one of those poor nerds that their mother made their costume. Sigh.

Lauren is going as- wait for it… A BUTTERFLY! Bet you couldn’t have guessed that one! And we’re not dressing Jillian up since I don’t think she’s going to come trick or treating with us. I don’t want her to get sick. 🙁

  4. I always have a hard time dressing up my kids because the weather here tends to be very cold around Halloween. I’m hoping that my girl can be a Pirate this year ! We will have to see if I can find one out here !

  5. I let my daughter pick out what she wants. Then, I make sure she has something to wear if her outfit is appropriate for the temperature. My son doesn’t like to wear costumes, so I’m ok with him.
