Our family recently started watching Tanked and obviously, some of the aquarium builds are just absolutely incredible to see. Well, watching the show, my husband is now obsessed with the idea of getting a fish tank. Oh buddy.
The last fish tank, I was driven nuts by as I was responsible for the upkeep, etc. When we had a trip to Florida in the middle of that February and I returned home to my apartment less than 50 degrees (Thanks old landlord for not fixing the furnace when we had requested a bazillion times!), sure enough, our fish had went to that big tank in the sky. I didn’t even attempt to deal with the idea of getting more because I am not a fan of anything gooey, slimey, blah. I know, how am I a mother right?
Sure enough though, I found myself trying to decide on a compromise. I’ve started looking at random fish tanks, unsure of what is best for us. I do not want a big tank, I just want something simple that our kids can enjoy. My husband says any tank under five gallons is worthless. So much for those 1.5 gallon tanks I was looking at or the betta tanks I found myself looking at.
How do you know what type of fish tank would make a good starter that is fun but not too much work?

We have a betta in a gallon tank and love it. Kids can help feed and change water. I like no heater or special care of the water.
