1. Computer Keyboard

Your keyboard gets used everyday, but how often does it get cleaned? Probably not often enough! Along with crumbs and dust, keyboards can also hold a lot of germs. Shaking the keyboard upside down releases some dirt, but to really clean it you need to wipe it down with isopropyl alcohol.

2. Pillow Forms

Your pillow forms are likely something you forgot to spring clean in the past years! That’s not good, as they can easily become dirty and can become hosts to dust mites. While the way you clean your pillow forms will depend on what they’re made out of, generally it’s a very simple process that only requires detergent and water.

3. Range Hood Filter

Your kitchen’s range hood filter is another thing you probably forgot to spring clean! While these filters tend to get greasy and nasty fast, they out of sight so are often ignored. But if you want your range hood to be able to work as well as possible, its filter needs to be clean. All you need is a scrub brush, 1/4 cup of baking soda and a squirt of good degreasing dish soap. Find something that is big enough for the filter to soak in, and fill it with boiling water. Pour the soap and baking soda in the water, then soak the filter in the water for 10 minutes. Scrub it until it’s clean, then rinse, dry, and put it back up.

4. Dishwasher

Just because your dishwasher cleans your dishes doesn’t mean it never needs to be cleaned itself! This year when you’re done cleaning, make sure your dishwasher isn’t something you forgot to spring clean! When cleaning it, first check that the dishwasher’s drain/trap/filter is cleaned out. Then put a cup of white vinegar in the top rack of the dishwasher and run it on a cycle that uses hot water. After that, shake a cup of baking soda on the bottom of your dishwasher and run another hot water cycle.

5. Washing Machine

The washing machine is another cleaning appliance that most people forget to clean. That’s unfortunate, as over time a washer may start to grow mildew and develop nasty odors. Lime could even start to buildup in it if you have hard water. To clean it, you need 2 cups of white vinegar and 1/4 cup of baking soda. For a top loader, run an empty hot water cycle and pour the vinegar and baking soda directly into the drum when it’s full of water. Then stop it and let it soak for about an hour. After that, let the cycle finish and drain. For a front loader, mix the baking soda with 1/4 cup of water and put it in the detergent section. Pour the vinegar directly in the drum, then start an empty hot water cycle.

6. Jewelry

You probably wear your jewelry all the time, but how often do you clean it? Just because it’s small doesn’t mean it can’t get dirty, or covered with bacteria!
