This past week has been a bit wild for our family as we get into a Summer routine. Last weekend, we experienced our very first time at Wizard World Comic Con Des Moines and I can say, it was amazing.
While I have never had the chance to attend before, it was a bit intimidating at first. As you start to get a feel for all things fun, you quickly find yourself excited to explore everything there.
No matter what your pop culture likes, Wizard World truly has something for everyone. As many stood in line for photo ops and autographs with fan favorites like Winston Duke, Elijah Wood, Nichelle Nichols, Butch Patrick and many more, you easily fall in love with the many vendors and artists available. There are even opportunities to ask artists for commissioned art. It was very tempting to have some but I’ll be budgeting for next time to take advantage of more!
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. So, here are some of the pictures of Aubrey with several cosplayers! She was so excited when I told her she can ask them for pictures!
One of my brothers also attended on the final day and was excited to get a custom dice set for his Magic and D&D games. We loved exploring Artist’s Alley and talking with the artists behind some of our favorite comic designs! Programming is also available to hear your favorite celebrities panel or learn more from those behind the various arts.
If you find yourself attending your first Wizard World Comic Con, be ready to be in awe. There are plenty of opportunities to have fun, get involved in a contest, shop, and even enjoy the great atmosphere that allows everyone to bring their creative skills to life in cosplay.
Our family is excited to know that Wizard World will be returning to Des Moines next year, May 10-12, 2019. Get your friends and family ready for some fun! We will be excited to see who the amazing guests next year and plan to take part in more of the events!

I’ve never been to a Wizard World Comic Con or any other similar convention. It sounds like there’s a lot to offer folks interested in that genre.
How fun! My two boys would love to go to a Comic Con event! We have one here in Chicago every year and hopefully we will make it to one soon.
