LYSOL Healthing Initiative-Keeping Families Healthy! 1

This Winter was not an easy one on our family. It seemed like no matter what we did, illness was in a never-ending circle.

LYSOL wants to help families like mine stay healthy with the introduction of the new “Healthing Initiative“. Sometimes, we all have to realize that there is more to staying healthy than just keeping your home clean. One thing I constantly do when someone falls ill in our home is doing a complete spray down of everything with disinfectant spray and Lysol wipes.

So how is healthing different than just cleaning? Healthing takes over our hygiene and cleaning habits. Everything we do on a daily basis can have an impact on your home and health. With Spring officially here, there’s still times for germs to enter your home. LYSOL and it’s Mission of Health has allowed the creation of products that have the goal to kill 99.9 percent of germs, making it easier for busy Moms like myself who want to keep our family healthy. In our house, LYSOL helps make keeping our home clean easy with the wide variety of products. LYSOL Disinfecting Spray helps not only keep our home smelling fresh but attacks the germs in the air as well. LYSOL wipes quickly take care cleaning up messes on our tables that the kids can make just as fast as I get them cleaned up and takes away having to deal with grabbing paper towels and spray when you just want to get things done as you move.

There are plenty of great ways to get your entire family involved in Healthing. With spring cleaning, it is easy to get overwhelmed. One great tip from LYSOL is to focus on one room at a time. Have all of your products ready to go and stocked up for each room so you can get the job done quickly and efficiently.

Here are some additional tips straight from LYSOL to help you keep your family healthy.

LYSOL Healthing Tips

  1. Know the difference between cleaning and disinfecting! Both are important components of the Healthing process and LYSOL® has products that can help with all related tasks. While cleaning and organizing is certainly important, killing germs on commonly touched surfaces can lower the risk of spreading bacteria and viruses between members of the family.
  2. Don’t forget to disinfect places that you don’t see or think about often, like the door knobs, cabinet handles or sink drains.
  3.  Remember to practice proper hand washing as well after you clean, either with soap and water for 20 seconds or a hand sanitizer. Hand washing is the single most important thing you can do to prevent illness, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

It’s important for your entire family to get involved and proactive. By teaching your children the importance of hand washing and making sure they know how to wash, they can feel proud of their help. As a Mom of two NICU babies, Kelsie and Aubrey both learned very quick how important it is to use hand sanitizer or wash their hands throughout the day and before touching their brothers.

LYSOL and Giuliana Rancic want to help make Healthing easier for everyone and have teamed up to visit YMCAs in various areas to show family and children how they can take part in healthing. At each YMCA location, LYSOL will provide families with knowledge about the products and how to practice improved hygiene habits in their own home, while making it exciting for kids. LYSOL will also provide educational information and disinfecting products to the local YMCAs, along with the donation of a one-year membership to a deserving family.
