Losing Postpartum Weight and Breastfeeding

Losing Postpartum Weight and Breastfeeding 1

I don’t know how many times I had heard, “The longer you breastfeed, the quicker you will lose that baby weight.” HA!. That’s funny stuff right there.

It’s been four and a half months since Nathan and Lucas were born and I am stuck hating my body right now. While I do not exclusively breastfeed because I just couldn’t keep up with the milk they needed, I am definitely not “losing weight from breastfeeding”. I’m at a plateau which is driving me absolutely nuts. I keep getting the “Oh my god, you just had twins!?” as they scan me from head to toe and let me tell you, that drives me even more nuts. Sure, I might look great to you but I know what I looked like before.

You can’t really diet while you breastfeed for obvious reasons. I am out walking or finding ways to get outside and move with the kids. Still, the bathroom scale is my nemesis.

Ultimately, if I want to get back to pre-baby, I need to lose 40 pounds. At this point, I’d be a-okay with 30 pounds.

What ways did you find to lose the weight after baby (Or babies?)

  1. Me, too. My 3rd child is turning 3 in August and it’s a struggle. I exercise 60-90 minutes a day, 6 days a week, and I still can’t get rid of my belly flap.

I bounced back pretty well after my 1st child (only gained 25 lbs with him) but my 2nd and 3rd children really stretched out my belly.
