Family get togethers for the Holidays are always filled with just about everything you can think of. It is always a busy time and easily stressful but this Christmas, we made a vow to keep it simple and be able to enjoy the day.
With the chance to check out ALDI stores for Holiday Entertaining, I was excited to come up with a fun plan for our family during our Christmas celebration. I wasn’t 100% sure of who would be at our family gathering but I wanted to have something for everyone.
One of the main things we decided to check out at ALDI was the award-winning wine options available. Within walking into our nearest ALDI store, the wine selections were located right up front. My mom’s boyfriend is probably the most knowledgeable of wines but I knew I wanted to pick out light options that are easy to enjoy.
At first, the layout of the wine shelves were a bit complicated and several of the award-winning wines were out of stock. Since I clearly wouldn’t be drinking, I asked for my husband’s opinions. My husband isn’t much of a wine drinker but he agreed those we knew would be at Christmas would enjoy the Landshut Riesling and Chaza Moscato.
The Landshut Riesling has been awarded the Best Buy Award Winner by Wine Enthusiast Magazine as well as Exceptional Value Silver Award Winner by Beverage Testing Institute. The Chaza Moscato has also been awarded by the Beverage Testing Institute with the Best Buy/World Wine Championships Award Silver Medal. There’s no breaking the bank when it comes to either of these choices with both available at $4.99 ($5.99 in Ohio). Both of these wines seemed like the perfect selections for me as “Starter Wines”.
As we decided what to pair with the wine choices, we took a few trips around the store before making a final decision. To keep our meal option simple, it was an easy choice with Appleton Farms Spiral Sliced Ham, potatoes, corn, and green beans all purchased at ALDI.
For after meal and opening presents, I decided on Grandessa Signature Mini Eclairs, Savoritz Entertainment Crackers, and the favorite choice that only lasted a few minutes-Belmont Candy Cane Pie. At first, I was worried it might be too rich but it was just right and with eight of us eating, it didn’t stand a chance. The pie was about $6 and definitely one we can’t wait to enjoy again.
My mom was my key wine taste-tester. The first for her to taste was the Moscato and overall, she enjoyed the fact there wasn’t an overwhelming taste or the after taste some wines can leave in your mouth. A Moscato falls into the category of a dessert wine and is very sweet.
The Chaza Moscato is described as-
Light body with a sweet taste thanks to its pear, apricot, and sweet peach flavors. Its crisp, refreshing finish makes it the perfect addition to spicy cuisine, salads, and dessert, or just enjoy it on its own.
Riesling is another light wine that can easily been enjoyed by itself-
Aromas of mild lemon butter cream, pistachio nougat, and peach jam. Tangy orange zest with a slight mineral finish. This versatile wine compliments a variety of foods, including Asian, Indian and, of course, German-style dishes.
ALDI made it easy to enjoy the holidays without breaking the bank and with upcoming occasions, it’ll be an easy decision to entertain our guests, no matter what the occasion.
Known for its premium exclusive brands, ALDI offers more than 1,400 of the most frequently purchased grocery items for up to 50 percent less than traditional supermarkets. Customers can get all the holiday essentials for less, including everything from wines and appetizers to main courses, side dishes and desserts, making holiday meals and family gatherings warm and memorable. During the holiday season, ALDI stores also carry an additional line-up of more than 100 seasonal items at unbeatable prices.
