So in the process of transferring to WordPress, I of course had to look into hosting. I purchased Hostgator. Big name has to be trustworthy, right? The more I looked through it, I then decided upon cancelling my account (less than 24 hours from the time I OPENED IT).
Note this Policy-
How do I get the 45-day money back refund?
We’re sorry to see you go. If we can do anything to make it better, please let us know.
To get the 45 day money-back guarantee, please cancel your account within the first 45 days of purchase. We will try refund you the same day we get the request; however, please allow up to 15 days for your credit card or PayPal to show the refund.
Can someone please tell me now why after 15 days hey look no refund? And then upon going to their “Live Support” I am told I need to REQUEST A REFUND? Um, I cancelled my account-what more do you need? Your policy does not state-
“Please cancel your account. We will then cancel it, make you wait the 15 days THINKING your money is coming back to you. When you discover it’s not and complain, we will then ask you to ask for a refund where you will then wait 15 days for this refund to process.”
No Hostgator, I will not recommend you to any friends. Sure you might have the least amount of downtime for accounts but you want to know what’s number one on my list? CUSTOMER SERVICE. So why I wait for my refund that “usually only takes 72 hours from the time of being cancelled” to be received ASAP, I think I’ll just enjoy blogging my experince with you so others are forewarned. Hostgator Customer Service Sucks.

Wow, good tip. 🙂 I’m a web designer (Pages by Nancy) so I thought I’d tell you if you’re still looking for a host, I have almost all of my clients on Lunar Pages and use them myself. They’ve been great to work with. Not to mention unlimited bandwidth and storage and cheap!
Good for you! I’m glad you posted about this!
