Those That Need A Voice…

Now most of the time, I keep “For the Love of Baby!” lighthearted and fun. But I think a blog also can help to inform other individuals. I have encountered some tough experiences in my life, some experiences that no one should ever have to deal with but they have created who I am and who I want to be. I’m sure as you have followed my blog, you know that I am a Criminology major. While I still have some time to go before my degree is completed, I know what I want to do with my major. My intentions are to work with “special victims”, those who have encountered domestic abuse, sexual assualt, child abuse. The individuals that NEED A VOICE for them. Often times, the individuals that undergo these horrible crimes are left feeling alone or like there is no one out there to help them.

I posted in August about a horrible crime that happened here in Ames. Lacrissa Davis left behind 4 children after her life was tragically taken. Domestic violence can happen to ANYONE, ANYWHERE.

Trisha over at MomDot has seen what domestic violence can do, unfortunately in her own home. Trisha shared her experience with all of her readers and I think it is a story that everyone should know. By Trisha sharing, she is giving her Mother A VOICE. You can read her experience here and please, don’t just pass off reading it and flying by without saying something.

Around the world, at least one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused during her lifetime.

As many as 324,000 women each year experience intimate partner violence during their pregnancy.

Approximately one in five female high school students reports being physically and/or sexually abused by a dating partner.

Studies suggest that between 3.3 – 10 million children witness some form of domestic violence annually.

Remember, if you have encountered any of these crimes, YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
