Picking out an Igloo Cooler for Summer

As summer weather is here, our family has made a variety of plans that will have us on the road and out exploring. I’ve made it important to our family to have lots of outdoor time and be able to get out and moving instead of being stuck inside the house, like we did all winter.

With being on the road travelling, a cooler has become a necessity to save money as well as the obvious of keeping our food and drink cold. With plans to head to Omaha, it will be great to have the cooler to keep drinks cool and throw in snacks for our girls as well without having to constantly stop at stores and buy along the way. It just makes more sense to me to have everything with us and not worry about the rest along the way (especially with the gas prices going up!) When we aren’t travelling, I plan to spend time out at the parks and I am always a fan of having friends over to kick back and BBQ. Today, I took the time to check out Wal-Mart looking for a cooler that was right for us. Before we left for the store, I looked online at the cooler selection so I’d have an idea of what I was looking for. I’ve never purchased an actual cooler before for our family. The Super Wal-Mart in Ames is our typical store to shop at as we can get groceries as well as our weekly household needs. We can have the whole family in the store and take the time to browse around, let the girls play with some of the toys, or I can go by myself to get in and out (or have some Mommy alone time!).

When we got back to the sporting goods, I would say that I expected there to be more hard cooler options. There were a ton of the soft coolers but I wanted something that would be durable as well as easy to clean if there were spills or otherwise.Online, I saw a variety of options but our Wal-Mart did not have as many. I knew we didn’t need a huge cooler as it would just be used for our family so I was able to work with the choices that we had.

When it came down to it, I decided on an orange Igloo Island Breeze Cooler. It was unique to have a color you don’t always see. When it came down to it, I loved that the Igloo Island Breezes came in unique colors and had a carrying handle along the top instead of only handles on a side to carry. I’m busy wherever I’m going and need to have an extra hand to juggle. We own a Jeep Grand Cherokee which is nice for the room but I also wanted there to be plenty of space to have a cooler, strollers, diaper bags, etc. With a 41 can capacity, it would be perfect to hold a few cans for adults, bottled water, and sippy cups.

While I expected there to be more hard coolers, the selection was good for what we needed. We needed a basic cooler and were able to find what we were looking for at our local Wal-Mart. There were other options available if we were needing to purchase an individual cooler or a big cooler for something like a family reunion, just take the time to check out both online and in store to decide what will work best for you
