With Halloween trick-or-treating over, we all know how important it is to keep those teeth clean. As most of us know, the best way to teach a child is to role model.
Listerine and REACH have teamed up with America’s Toothfairy to create the Oral Care Challenge, urging parents and children over six years of age to brush, floss, and rinse with mouthwash twice a day for three weeks. By parents doing so and teaching their children the importance of proper dental hygiene techniques, we can create habits to last a lifetime. All too often, I think we rush off and forget to floss and use a mouthwash for at least 30 seconds. Mouthwash can help reduce the amount of germs in an individuals mouth dramatically.
While my children are under six years old, I have done what I can to make sure that we have started oral hygiene early. Both daughters had their first dentist appointment early. Aubrey and Kelsie get excited to brush their teeth as we make it fun by purchasing character toothbrushes and more.
Last week, I saw my dentist and was happy to hear no cavities. That’s great news considering I have weak teeth from flurosis I developed as a child. I am one that has been known to slack and needs to floss more consistently if I want my children to continue on the path of good oral habits.
Can you challenge yourself to healthy oral habits for you and your family?

This is a great campaign. I’m going to take the Oral Care Challenge and step up the learning about oral health in my family! 🙂
My son is 5 but very into oral health, I’m betting we could get into this challenge.
