While the circumstances have been stressful this past couple of weeks dealing with health issues and so forth, we have finally gotten something I have wanted for a long time-the chance to move out of Ames. This city just is not what it used to be. Now that I am a parent, I do not want my kids growing up here. It’s funny to think six years ago, I was so happy to be out of small po-dunk little Madrid and now, I’m ready to live in a small town again.
We are moving to Nevada in the next coming weeks. I placed a deposit on an apartment today. The current tenants are moving out this weekend and the property management says they intend to turn it over to us sometime next week. I’m going to be moving us in slowly, taking over what I can right now, getting it unpacked, and going from there. I have two cousins and their families that live in Nevada so it will be nice to be near more family. We are still going to be close enough to Ames for whatever but, I get to go live in a small town in a relatively quiet area (it is near highway). There is a park across the street so I can walk with the girls and play and just get to enjoy life!
This summer is about getting back on track, being able to focus on taking care of health issues, and just enjoying my family!

Congratulations on your upcoming move. I hope you find the happiness and peace of mind you seek. Wonderful that you have a park nearby for the girls. Living here in Oregon we have so many parks I forget that many places across the country don’t have those little islands of nature for the kids to run in and explore. With all that Nevada sunshine don’t forget to stock up on tons of eco-friendly sunscreen.
Oh my gosh, my heart is pounding, lol. At first I thought you meant Nevada the state and I was totally bummed out that you’re leaving Iowa. I’m so glad you’re not moving THAT far away. Hey, if you need ANY help with ANYTHING, let me know. I’m in DSM, I will come help you with moving, packing, whatever you need. I’m not terrible strong, but I’m determined 😉 This is so exciting for you! Congrats!! ~S

I lived across the street from a park once. It was wonderful to have easy access to the playground and a nice place to go for walks. Congrats on your move!
