One thing I always think about when people are dieting is what nutrients are we depleting ourselves of when it comes to calorie-counting and dieting? No matter how healthy you might think you are eating, you have to wonder what nutrients you are reducing in yourself when you reduce your food intake.
Shakeology is a nutritional shake that helps your body fill up with the proper nutrients and help your body to eliminate toxins that drag your body down. As a mom, I can admit that there have been times where I skip eating a decent meal and grab random small things throughout the day. Even if you aren’t overloading your body with food, it still does not help your cause.
When I first started trying out the Shakeology program, I have been in a fight to get to a normal weight. My body has taken a beating with doctors messing around with various medications. I’ve had vitamin deficiencies and just completely out of whack. Sometimes no matter what you eat, it takes some work to get your body back on track and caught up from losing out on important nutrients.
When I was given the chance to try out Shakeology, I was excited and nervous at the same time. I can admit that I can be a wimp when it comes to certain shakes and “health food”. I was given the chance to try two different versions, Chocolate and Greenberry. The fun thing about Shakeology is you don’t have to drink it plain if you don’t want it that way and can easily manipulate to make some delicious recipes that you are sure to enjoy. A favorite that I played with was the following-
Dessert (Just kidding! It’s a meal!)
1 Tbsp. natural almond or peanut butter
1 scoop Chocolate Shakeology
3/4 cup water
Ice to taste
I just threw the ingredients into my blender and had a fun drink that I was able to sip on while I was working and kicking up my feet. I will say that Chocolate was my favorite but Greenberry can easily be thrown in with a fruit smoothie to give yourself that extra boost. I wasn’t a big fan of the Greenberry by itself so I have been one to play and figure out adding bananas, etc.
Shakeology has over 70 Healthy Ingredients to pack your body full of the nutrients you need. Now that I am pregnant the Shakeology program isn’t meant to be used to lose weight. I do intend to talk to a doctor about drinking Shakeology as a friend told me of her using it in the past to help get the nutrients she needed when her stomach would not let her handle very much food. If you are pregnant, it is always important to talk with your health care provider before taking any vitamins or supplements.

Great review, thanks for sharing this! Love the write up!
A friend is giving her 1 year old Shakeology shakes and says that it’s ‘safe’……is this the case???
I am unsure of this but it does seem to raise a red flag for me. While the Shakeology shakes are packed full of nutrients, anyone should contact a healthcare professional before trying. I would be concerned as you are.
OK, she says it’s baby-safe or something, but my pediatrician told me to hold off on Shakeology while breastfeeding due to certain ingredients that can cause digestive distress to the baby……..I can’t really say anything to her b/c she ‘knows everything’ and doesn’t even vaccinate her children b/c she thinks she also knows better than modern science. Thank you for your feedback 🙂
