Do you ever feel like your life is a bit chaotic? If you do, then you are certainly not alone. Whether it be working, running a home, bringing up kids, or all of the above, life can become stressful and a bit crazy at times.
Thankfully there are many things you can do to alleviate some of the pressure and make life a bit more manageable. Here are 4 ways to live a calmer and more organized life.
Declutter your home
If your home is filled to the brim with belongings and becoming overwhelming, you might be surprised at how much of a difference decluttering can make. Not only will it make home life far more enjoyable, but clearing your living space will also help to clear your mind.
One room at a time, get rid of anything you no longer need or you feel is taking up unnecessary space. The belongings you keep hold of will become that little bit more special and your home will look bigger and brighter and should also feel calmer.
A place for everything
Once you have successfully decluttered your home, organizing the things you have kept will ensure that your home remains in good order. When belongings have no specific home a mess can start to form, so allocate a place for everything and make sure they are put back in the right place after use.
Storage baskets and boxes come in a variety of colors and sizes are a great way to store belongings, so if you don’t already have some pretty storage containers, they are a worthwhile addition.
Practice meditation
Clearing your mind is just as important as clearing your home, which is why meditation is so popular these days. It allows you to calm your mind and can send you into a deep state of relaxation. Meditation also gives you the ability to observe and make more sense of your thoughts. With some practice, you can learn to train your mind so that stress is no longer able to take over, which should result in an improvement to your physical and emotional well-being.
There are various types of meditation, including mantra meditation, whereupon words or phrases are repeated over and over like a form of prayer. Many people use Mala, otherwise known as Buddhist prayer beads, to help them meditate and track their breathing when they recite their mantras. If you are longing for a greater sense of calm in your life, then meditation could be the answer.
Be prepared
If you usually leave everything to the last minute, try to prepare things in advance, and plan as much as you can. If, for example, mornings are usually a nightmare, endeavor to have a more structured routine.
Have the kid’s school uniforms ready and look out what you intend wearing for work. Plan what you will be having for breakfast and explain to the family what you need them to do and when. A more structured day will usually result in a far calmer day and should set you on the path to a more organized life.
